Who's General Boonlert Kaewprasert?


Gen. Boonlert Kaewprasit – “Big Ai” 
Born: February 19, 1942 - 70 yrs old
School: Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (AFAPS) - Class 1, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy - Class 12

- Leader of anti-government group Pitak Siam (PS) - demanding coup or vague 5-year "freeze of the country - แช่แข็งประเทศ". PS's rally drew 3-30k attendees (low estimate police, high estimate protest organizers. 
       
Supported by 2006 coup-planner and CIA-trained Air Force Squadron Leader Prasong Soonsiri and Admiral Pachun Thampratheep, a former Head of Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda's Office. 

PS is planning another rally on November 24. In response, the government has imposed the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Participated in failed coup attempt against PM Tanin Kraivixien in March 1977, led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Gen. Chalard Hiransiri. Sanan also took part in this failed coup. Coup group came from Army Area 1, Division 9 (Kanchanaburi) - 19th Infantry Regiment (1,2,3)

- On the radio show "Lap Luang Prang", Boonlert said over the last 7-8 years people have destroyed the reputation of the King and that there should be a coup if it continues. He says there should not be changes in laws concerning the monarchy (e.g. Article 112).
